Our rec league flag football team has spent three seasons in old T-shirts with numbers drawn on in marker, and they’ve definitely seen better days. Since I run my own print on demand shop, I got voted in to find us real jerseys. We needed something that would hold up for a full season and show up before opening day.

Whether you’re outfitting a youth club or a weekend rec league, the right site comes down to your sport and how soon you need the jerseys. I compared jersey styles and customization options, plus the small touches that set each company apart.

These are the five sites that made my list.

Custom Jerseys at a Glance

  • Best overall: BlueCotton
  • Best selection of jerseys available: Custom Ink
  • Best for fully custom sublimated designs: Owayo
Best for baseball and softball teams: Boombah
Best for small orders on a budget: Fansidea
  • Best customer service: BlueCotton
  • Best turnaround time: BlueCotton

How I Chose These Sites

  • They all have customer reviews.
  • They have dependable production times.
  • They can print individual names and numbers for each player.

BlueCotton

What first drew me to BlueCotton was the fact that I could order custom screen printed shirts in small batches, starting at only six items. I really like that they offer printed samples, and quality check every order (by a real human!)

The design interface was easy to use, with Order Builder if you have your design ready to upload, or Design Studio if you need help to create your design. There were so many options to help me get it right.

My favorite feature on BlueCotton’s website might actually be their customer service. The issue that frustrates me the most when making purchases online is not being able to get in touch with someone to ask questions when they come up. BlueCotton’s customer service is actually human, which seems like a rarity now with AI chat bots on most websites. No need for endless emails back and forth, since they have a phone number to call for customer support. The customer support options, including chat and email support, were easy to find, and on every page of the website.

When it comes to jersey printing, there is only one traditional jersey style available, (the Augusta Double Sleeve Stripe Jersey). However, there are a variety of raglan style t-shirts and polos, many which offer embroidery as well as screen printing.

An added bonus is their 10 business day guarantee for shipping in the 48 contiguous states. If you need your order even sooner, there are several rush options available.

The Breakdown:

Owayo

Owayo Custom Jerseys design your own sportswear

Owayo is a German sportswear company that makes every item in Germany in its own facility. Every jersey is sublimated, so the colors, names, numbers and logos are dyed into the fabric instead of glued or ironed on, meaning they shouldn’t peel or crack after a few washes. Logos, names and numbers are all included in the base price.

The 3D designer is the part that I liked the most. You pick a template, change the colors, add your logo, and watch it update on a rotating jersey in real time. You only need to build one design with a sample name and number. At checkout, the system walks you through adding each player’s name, number and size.

Sizing a whole team is easier too, because Owayo will send you sample jerseys to try on. You do have to return them within 14 days and pay the postage yourself though so they’re not 100 percent free.

One slight disadvantage is the time. Production takes 2 to 5 weeks depending on the time of year, and express production adds 15% to 50% to your order. It’s also pricey for small orders. A basic soccer jersey is $73 for one, but drops to $49 each when you order 10.

The Breakdown:

Styles
Soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball, handball, running, cycling and more. No football or baseball jerseys.
Minimum
No minimum. The price per jersey drops as you order more of the same design.
Colors
Over 50 standard colors. Custom colors can be matched using Pantone codes.
Price Range
F3 Basic soccer jersey: $73 for 1, $49 each for 10, $43 each for 50.
Shipping
Takes 2 to 5 weeks to make, plus a shipping fee you’ll see before you confirm the order.
Sizes Available
Adult sizes run XS to XXL for men and XS to XL for women, and kids’ sizes fit ages 2 to 14+. There’s also a size chart to help you pick the right fit.
Quality
Moisture-wicking performance fabrics
Customization
Unlimited logos, names, numbers and sponsor logos included. A custom design template costs extra.
What sets them apart?
Made-in-Germany sublimation with everything included in the price, plus try-on samples.

Boombah

Boombah custom team uniforms

Boombah covers a long list of sports, from baseball and fastpitch to football, lacrosse, soccer and even esports (electronic sports)! It also sells bat bags, batting helmets and cleats, so baseball and softball teams can get almost everything in one place.

Making the design is pretty straightforward, you use their online builder and then a Boombah graphic designer emails you a mock-up, and nothing gets made until you approve it. After approval, the standard lead time is 2 weeks, with a 5-business-day rush for an extra fee.

Read the fine print before you submit, though. Changes after you order cost money. For example, adding player names you forgot costs $25, and canceling can cost $50 to $75. Boombah also keeps ownership of any artwork its designers create for you, even if you paid a design fee, and you won’t get a copy of the design file. So if you think you might take your logo somewhere else later, make sure you design your own and don’t use their design services.

The Breakdown:

Styles
Baseball, fastpitch, slowpitch, basketball, volleyball, football, lacrosse, soccer, hockey and more. Includes reversible basketball and football jerseys.
Minimum
No minimum, but orders under 10 jerseys per design add a $25 fee.
Colors
Matched to the Boombah Standard Colors palette. Fluorescent colors cost $5 per garment.
Price Range
$59.99 to $67.99 per jersey. Prices go down the more you order but the online builder makes it hard to check bulk pricing, so call for a team quote.
Shipping
2 weeks after mock-up approval, with a 5-business-day rush for an extra fee. Free ground shipping over $99.99 in the lower 48.
Sizes Available
Youth sizes XS to 2XL, women’s 2XS to 3XL, and men’s S to 5XL. There’s a size chart to help you pick the right fit.
Quality
Fully sublimated, made in Boombah’s own factory.
Customization
Online builder with stock or custom logos, names and numbers. Embroidery has a $25 digitization fee.
What sets them apart?
A real designer makes a mock-up for you, and they cover almost every team sport.

Custom Ink

Best Websites for Custom Jerseys for Teams, Events, and Family Reunions

Custom Ink surprised me with how many different jersey styles they have available to customize. Not only would I be set for our flag football team, but it is well suited for basketball, soccer and volleyball too! I was happy to see that their customer service options were easy to find, right on the top of the website, where I can talk to a real person. They have customer ratings on the website to help you make your purchase. I love that I was able to review past customers’ opinions about print quality and how the fabric felt.

They have third party fulfillment centers to print and ship from various locations in the USA, which makes shipping easy, but it also means print quality can be inconsistent since it’s not all coming from one location. They have a two week guarantee from processing to delivery in the 48 contiguous states. Like with BlueCotton, if you’re working on a deadline and you need to know when your order of jerseys will arrive, Custom Ink is a great option.

The Breakdown:

Styles
Wide range of jerseys available, including soccer, football, basketball, volleyball and baseball. There are even pinstripe button up baseball jerseys for a classic look.
Minimum
No minimum order on most items. Some jerseys require a minimum order of 6 units. The price per item decreases as you order more.
Colors
Color ranges vary depending on the jersey style.
Price Range
Starting at $15.60 per jersey for front print. Adding a design on the back is an additional cost. Price increases at 2XL sizes.
Shipping
Free standard shipping with a 2 week guarantee from processing to delivery in the 48 contiguous states. 1 week rush available for 15% added to the cost of the order. 3 day rush for an additional 30%. International delivery available to most countries, with a minimum order size of 6 items. Contact Custom Ink to learn about delivery options and what products are available in your specific country.
Sizes Available
Adult sizes XS – 4XL. Youth sizes available for many options.
Quality
Ranges from 100% cotton for raglan baseball tees to polyester blends and 100% recycled polyester (Eco friendly) with moisture wicking material.
Customization
Screen printing or direct to garment printing. Front and back printing but you can contact Custom Ink to check if you can add designs on the sleeves.
What sets them apart?
Large variety of jersey styles available that are also size inclusive.

Fansidea

Fansidea Customize your Baseball Jersey

Fansidea is the budget pick. Jerseys start at $24.99, there’s no minimum order, and US shipping is free. It covers baseball, softball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer and volleyball. The catalog is huge, with ready-made templates sorted by color, pattern and theme, plus reversible football, basketball and hockey jerseys. You pick a template and add your names and numbers, it’s easy and simple.

Timing is the tradeoff. Fansidea’s site doesn’t make the production time clear, but I found it on Trustpilot, where they replied to a few complaints about slow shipping. They explained that every jersey is custom-made, so production takes 7 to 9 business days before it ships. After that, free standard shipping takes another 8 to 10 business days. Rush shipping (3 to 5 business days) costs $30 to $45, but it doesn’t speed up production, so order early!

The Breakdown:

Styles
Baseball, softball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer and volleyball. Reversible options for several sports.
Minimum
No minimum.
Colors
Template designs in dozens of colors.
Price Range
Starting at $24.99 per jersey.
Shipping
7 to 9 business days production, then 8 to 10 business days free US standard shipping. Paid DHL Express takes 3 to 5 business days.
Sizes Available
Preschool and kids’ sizes S to L, women’s S to 4XL, and men’s S to 7XL. There’s a size chart to help you pick the right fit.
Quality
100% polyester, moisture-wicking fabric. Baseball jerseys have stitched tackle twill names and numbers.
Customization
Names, numbers and team names added to ready-made templates.
What sets them apart?
The lowest starting price, with no minimum and free US shipping.

The Decision

After comparing all five, I narrowed it down to BlueCotton and Boombah. Both make football-ready jerseys and offer rush options. I ultimately chose BlueCotton for our flag football team, because I could easily reach a real person when questions came up. I kept the design simple, using their Design Studio to add names and numbers to each jersey. Now we look like a real team for our league photos!
