If you have struggled with things like clunky layouts, limited marketing tools, or other issues with Fresha, there are a lot of alternatives that can be a better fit for your business. Finding the right one for you can be a challenge, so I’ve broken down some of the top Fresha Alternatives for you here!

  • GlossGenius: Best for building a website or inventory management
  • Goldie: Best for social media support
  • Mindbody: Best for customer-facing marketplace to promote your business, staff management, and business reporting
  • Vagaro: Best for a salon marketplace and user interface
  • Boulevard: Best for staff management, calendars, client management, and reports

Top Fresha Alternatives

There are a lot of good Fresha alternatives out there, depending on what it is you are looking for. I am going to check out:

  1. GlossGenius
  2. Goldie
  3. Mindbody
  4. Vagaro
  5. Boulevard

So let’s see what they each offer and when to use them.

#1 Alt: GlossGenius

Best for: Building a website or inventory management

Price: $24-148 per month

Pros:

  • Let’s you build a website from scratch
  • Has good inventory management features
  • Good UI

Cons:

  • Expensive for beginners
  • No marketplace

Fresha might have some cool features, but building out a new website isn’t one of them.

If you are just starting out and need a website builder, GlossGenius is a good alternative. They also make it easy to manage staff, clients, calendars, inventory, and financing. But one of their biggest draws is the setting to create your own website, and from there, integrate calendar functions, add clients, and so forth.

Fresha has some options for team management and report generation, but nothing for inventory management. So if you are a scaling business looking to sell products like lotions as a masseuse or a stylist selling Olaplex or toner, you need inventory support. GlossGenius is another great option for those businesses looking to improve inventory management. GlossGenius makes it easy to add images for items that are being used for services, for retail, or both. This sends you alerts when you are down on a product, so you never go without.

#2 Alt: Goldie

Best for: Social media support

Price: $20-$40 per month

Pros:

  • Great AI social media support
  • Inexpensive for beginners

Cons:

  • Clunky UI
  • Not as many features as alternatives

If you don’t have a knack for social media (or the love or the time for it), Fresha won’t be there to help with social media marketing. Automations (like appointment reminders) and blast campaigns are basically all you get.

Everything that is offered with Fresha is effectively there for a well-established business that already has a good client base and is only looking to increase bookings from that client base.

So if you want to save money on social media support and marketing, you are new, or you are trying to attract new clients as well, Goldie is a good alternative.

Goldie’s bread and butter, as far as marketing is concerned, is the social media support. They have social media templates, mass messages, and social media post generators. The social media templates can be used to promote your online booking website or Instagram with posts and stories.

The social media post generator is a cool AI tool. You can get AI-driven captions with direct Facebook and Instagram integration, and all you have to do is upload a picture and let the AI do everything else.

#3 Alt: MindBody

Best for: Customer-facing marketplace to promote your business, staff management, and business reporting

Price: $100-$600

Pros:

  • Customer-face marketplace
  • Lots of staff management tools
  • Good business reports

Cons:

  • Better for health and wellness, not as much for salons and barbershops
  • Expensive for multiple locations

Fresha has the marketplace for customers searching for clients, but it’s pretty “meh.” Like, if I could somehow write the sound of the last squeeze from an empty ranch dressing bottle, that’s how I would describe Fresha’s marketplace. It doesn’t have a lot of flexibility or intriguing features of any kind. Just “meh.”

And when you need to drive new business, that’s not going to cut it, and neither will the high 20% commissions that are placed on any new client who books through the marketplace.

So if this is an issue for you, go with MindBody. MindBody is an impressive alternative for health and fitness companies in particular, with a platform that lets you use creative measures for increasing and retaining new clients while also increasing your revenue.

One of those is the “classpass” option. If you are a barber shop or a salon, you might have to get particularly unique about how you use this feature, but it gives you a chance to offer “classes” or really any service at a discount if people buy a package deal like three massages for the price of two.

Other options are the “deals” and “last-minute offers,” both of which can help you fill a gap in your schedule. Maybe you are an esthetician and you have a 3-hour gap in the middle of the day; using MindBody, you could offer a last-minute deal at a slight discount.

That marketplace isn’t the only reason why they are a good alternative to Fresha; MindBody has very good staff management options and business reporting. Fresha has basic timesheets and calendars, but it’s limited in any other capacity. So, if you are running a larger business and you need to be able to manage multiple employees at multiple locations, and you want comprehensive business reports to see how things are going, these are other reasons to consider MindBody.

You can automate staff substitutions, control permissions, and track payroll.

#4 Alt: Vagaro

Best for: Marketplace, and better user interface

Price: $24-$90

Pros:

  • Customer-facing marketplace to list your business
  • Inexpensive for beginners
  • Scalable pricing
  • Easy user interface

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have the same support for report generation
  • Limited marketing options beyond the marketplace posting

If you do hair or nails and the MindBody marketplace doesn’t work well for you, you can try Vagaro. Their marketplace has “daily deals”, which is a comparable way to schedule openings during your shift, and “live stream classes.”

I really like the idea of a live stream class and if you are particularly passionate about your service, and you have a willing friend, you can fill empty windows in your day or days that you aren’t at your chair with live stream classes, teaching people how to do things like proper foiling techniques or straight razor shaves, even fancy flower decorations on a French manicure. These classes can be potentially quite lucrative because you can fit several more people in a class than you can for the same window at your chair.

The other thing they have to offer compared to Fresha is really the layout and the user interface. Fresha has the unfortunate design of a left-side panel instead of a header that uses icons instead of typography. This means every time your cursor even thinks about going to the left side of your screen, that panel will pop out, and this can be downright annoying and disruptive when you are working.

But more annoying are the icons; maybe I’m alone in this, the old grandma sitting in the front lawn yelling at cars for going too fast but their icons are not clear so I don’t know what they mean and despite the fact that I’ve used Fresha for years, I still have to scroll and hover over each icon until the actual words pop up telling me what it means. Such a waste of time.

Vagaro doesn’t have that. In fact, they have a very clean layout that uses a header on top of your screen with simple typography, so you know exactly when you are looking at your marketing section versus your sales section.

#5 Alt: Boulevard

Best for: Staff management, calendars, client management, and reports

Price: $150-$450

Top Fresha Alternatives

Pros:

  • Great onboarding support
  • Front Desk Feature
  • Smart Scheduling Feature
  • Builds better client relationships

Cons:

  • Expensive for beginners or solo professionals
  • No marketplace

Fresha is pretty limited where staff management is concerned, right? Well, unfortunately, they are also limited on report generation. Because there isn’t a lot that is managed internally, there isn’t a lot of data with which to generate reports. Unfortunately, this means you can’t gain a lot of insight into your daily operations.

If you are looking to gain that insight, Boulevard is your go-to Fresha alt. Boulevard has the unique “Front Desk” feature, which allows you to better manage your clients, and the calendar feature that allows you to better manage your staff. The calendar is laid out so that all of your staff members are viewable side by side with different color designations.

Beyond that, there are areas for staff information and controls, simple things like being able to suspend an account immediately or delete an account if you are dealing with staff turnover. This makes it very easy and precise when managing security for your business.

In the reports section of the Boulevard app, you have so much control over the types of reports that you generate, such as looking at your sales, payments, and staff performance during any given time.

If, for example, you are worried about losing money on Mondays and trying to decide whether you should close your doors on Mondays, you can look at each staff member’s performance every Monday for the last several months and either scale down the number of people you have working on Mondays or close your doors entirely.

You have so many more tools that support your overall internal operations without being unnecessarily complicated.

Tangentially, Boulevard supports good client management with much the same tools, including sales reports and client profiles that give you an in-depth picture of what services have been booked, when, and by whom.

Summing Up

If Fresha isn’t meeting your needs, there are a lot of good alternatives from which to choose. The best Fresha alt is really based on what it is your business is trying to improve upon, where you might want more support, or what type of business you run.

My suggestions, though, are as follows:

  • If you need to build a website or you specifically want help with inventory management, go with GlossGenius.
  • If you want social media support as your top priority, pick Goldie.
  • If you want to promote your business with a marketplace and take advantage of staff management tools, go with Mindbody.
  • If your goal is user interface as a salon, with scalable pricing models, go with Vagaro.
  • If you want the best options for report generation, staff management, calendar functions, and good client management to build better relationships, stick with Boulevard.
