If you’re an affiliate marketer, then you know that choosing the right tool can make or break your revenue.

When it comes to affiliate marketing plugins, Lasso is one of the most popular choices, especially for WordPress users. Still, it’s not the best fit for everyone.

If you’re thinking about moving away from Lasso, there are alternatives available, each with their own feature set, pros, and cons.

Why consider Lasso alternatives?

Lasso Alternatives

If you visit the main site or take some time to play around with Lasso’s features yourself, you’ll see that the platform promises a lot: easy link management, automatic Amazon integration, and detailed analytics all from one dashboard.

Still, just as with any tool, it may not necessarily be the best fit for your marketing needs. Some of the main reasons that Lasso users may look for alternatives include:

Pricing

Admittedly, Lasso has a free plan, but it doesn’t include basic features you’d expect to see in an affiliate link management platform, like broken or out-of-stock link alerts.

If you decide to pay monthly for more features, even Lasso’s lowest-priced ‘Essentials’ tier costs $29 per month. The cost might just about be affordable if you’re running a single site, but it quickly ramps up if you’re managing multiple domains. The ‘Essentials’ plan also doesn’t include link localization, which is essential if you have a significant number of international customers.

Discounts of up to 45% are available for subscribers willing to pay for 12 months upfront.

Embedding limitations

Lasso has moved on from offering only a WordPress plugin, as it also supports embedding JavaScript into a site’s HTML. However, whether you download and insert a plugin or a code snippet, this can only work for domains you control. This means you can’t, for instance, embed it directly inside a Facebook page, though of course you post links generated by Lasso there.

Customer Support issues

The level of support you get from Lasso depends very much on your pricing plan. For instance, free users only get access to an AI chatbot and online support pages. The ‘Essentials’ plan also offers ‘Standard’ support, which adds email.

From what I could see on the website, there’s no telephone number to call for support, plus if you want dedicated help, you need to subscribe to a bespoke ‘Enterprise’ plan. Multiple customers on TrustPilot have also complained about issues with getting in touch with support to resolve issues, including canceling their subscription.

Internationalization Limitations

As we discussed, not all Lasso price plans support link localization. For that, you’ll need at least a ‘Pro’ subscription that costs $39 if you’re paying monthly. This also only currently works for Amazon links.

Geniuslink Features

What it is: Geniuslink is a very flexible and platform-agnostic affiliate marketing link management tool. It’s mainly designed to maximize commissions from global sales, beyond the USA.

Best suited for: Affiliate marketers with significant international traffic, who manage multiple platforms or who need advanced analytics/customization.

Unlike Lasso, Geniuslink doesn’t depend on a WordPress plugin or JavaScript snippet to embed itself into pages. You can use the platform to generate links to be used in any website, emails, social media, or even QR codes. You can even create branded, short-form URLs using domains you control.

Geniuslink offers excellent link localization features with a high accuracy rate, meaning it can send visitors to the correct Amazon storefront or other suitable product page.

It also offers advanced analytics, allowing you to filter clicks by key metrics like device, location, and language.

  • Geniuslink supports 19 Amazon storefronts. It can also localize links for a wide range of products and services, like iTunes subscriptions. This can seriously boost your international commissions.
  • Provided you have a suitable domain to use, you can create branded short links to use with the platform e.g., yourwebsite.com/yourproduct
  • Geniuslink includes highly customizable routing rules. For instance, you can send users to different destinations based on their country or device. You can even set up A/B tests or redirect users to ‘Amazon Choice’ pages.
  • Unlike Lasso, all Geniuslink tiers support displaying alerts if a product is no longer available or out of stock.
  • Geniuslink also supports multiple affiliate programs besides Amazon, e.g., the iTunes and Microsoft stores.
  • The platform doesn’t offer a free plan, although subscriptions start at just $6 per month.
  • To get the best use out of Geniuslink, you’ll need to set up affiliate links to replace all your existing ones. This can take time.
  • As Geniuslink offers many advanced features, it has a steeper learning curve when it comes to onboarding and mastering all its features relative to simpler tools like Lasso.
  1. Geniuslink offers better link localization and customization features than Lasso, for less money.
  2. The platform isn’t limited to WordPress or domains you control. It supports generating links for use anywhere.
  3. Geniuslink offers extremely advanced analytics, so it is ideal for serious affiliate marketers.

What it is: OneLink is Amazon’s free tool for affiliate link localization. You can connect your US, UK, or Canadian Amazon affiliate accounts to it. The platform will then generate a snippet of JavaScript code that you can embed in your website. When a user clicks on your affiliate link, OneLink will redirect them to the local Amazon storefront, provided it supports that location.

Who it’s for: Amazon Associates who need a quick, simple, and cost-free way to localize links for international traffic.

OneLink operates in a similar way to Lasso in that it’s primarily designed to embed code into domains that you control. On the plus side, there’s no need to download and reupload a WordPress plugin to do this.

I mentioned above that the tool can redirect users to support a local Amazon storefront. This is because currently OneLink only supports 13 locations, far fewer than the 19+ offered by Geniuslink.

  • OneLink is free for Amazon Associates to use. This includes all features.
  • OneLink will work with any site that supports JavaScript, which means it’s compatible with virtually all domains.
  • As an official Amazon tool, users benefit from excellent support. There is extensive online documentation, plus Amazon Associates has a dedicated contact page.
  • The platform only supports Amazon affiliate links.
  • OneLink can take a long time to add new countries to the list, even after affiliate programs are launched there. Currently, it supports 13 Amazon storefronts.
  • OneLink only supports standard product and search links, e.g., there’s no easy way to generate ‘bounty’ links for Prime Day.
  • As OneLink only works by embedding JavaScript code, it isn’t compatible with sites that don’t let you do this, like YouTube channels or social media pages.
  1. You want a free solution for Amazon link localization.
  2. You favor a simple setup with an easy-to-navigate interface.
  3. You don’t need advanced link management or multi-platform support.

AAWP (Amazon Affiliate WordPress Plugin)

AAWP

What it is: As the name suggests, this is a dedicated WordPress plugin for Amazon affiliates.

Who it’s for: WordPress users who are focused on Amazon affiliate marketing and looking for an easy and elegant way to display products.

AAWP is especially well-known in affiliate marketing circles for creating glamorous visual features like product boxes, comparison tables, and lists that can automatically refresh in real-time based on Amazon product data. This makes it ideal for users who want to boost conversions while looking fabulous.

Pricing starts at €79 (about $90) per year for one site, including one year of support and all core features. Plans supporting more sites and features are available. AAWP has also recently started offering lifetime subscriptions. Prices start at €399 ($452 excluding tax) for the ‘Starter’ plan.

AAWP Pros:

  • As outlined above, AAWP offers relatively affordable pricing. If you’re willing to pay annually, the lowest-priced ‘Starter’ plan works out around $7.40 per month.. Subscribers are also offered a 30-day refund if they’re unhappy for any reason.
  • AAWP integrates well with Amazon, allowing you to easily create customizable, conversion-optimized displays of its products.
  • The platform supports basic analytics to show which products or links are performing best.

AAWP Cons:

  • As a WordPress plugin, AAWP can’t generate links or product displays easily for sites that don’t support that platform.
  • AAWP is limited to generating Amazon affiliate links only.
  • While AAWP supports ‘Geo Targeting’ – basic link localization for international traffic, this feature is limited compared to competitors like Geniuslink.

Why choose AAWP over Lasso?

  1. AAWP offers much better value for money than Lasso, while having similar features.
  2. Setting up attractive product displays is simple using the integrated tools.
  3. Subscriptions include automatic updates and include product support.

ThirstyAffiliates

What it is: A link management plugin for WordPress that lets you cloak, organize, and track affiliate links across your domain.

Best for: WordPress users who need robust link management for multiple affiliate programs.

Similar to AAWP’s, ThirstyAffiliate’s plugin can be uploaded to any WordPress page you control. You can use the main dashboard to organize links by category, or even tag them to make them easier to sort through.

From here, you can also see which links are getting the most clicks and view alerts for broken links. As with Lasso, link cloaking is supported.

ThirstyAffiliates offers three main price tiers. The lowest cost ‘basic’ plan costs $99.60 per year for a single site. This includes all core features like geographic redirects and Amazon API importing. Higher-priced plans are available (with much the same features) for 5 and 10 websites, respectively.

ThirstyAffiliates Pros:

  • If you’re managing multiple domains, ThirstyAffiliates offers very affordable pricing relative to other platforms. For example, the ‘Advanced’ plan costs $199.60 per year for 10 sites, meaning each domain would cost less than $20 annually to manage.
  • Though ThirstyAffiliates has excellent Amazon integration, it’s compatible with virtually any affiliate platform.
  • ThirstyAffiliates is ideal for managing large numbers of links due to its categorization features. You can also automatically link keywords in your content to affiliate URLs.

ThirstyAffiliates Cons:

  • Just as with Lasso and AAWP, ThirstyAffiliates is primarily designed for WordPress domains you control. This means there’s no automatic way to embed content into emails, social media, and so on.
  • ThirstyAffiliates ‘Geolocations’ feature for link localization is more complicated than it needs to be. Users must enable the dedicated module manually, then link to a third-party database.
  • Unlike AAWP, ThirstyAffiliates doesn’t offer an easy, automatic way to insert product display boxes and tables.

Why choose ThirstyAffiliates over Lasso?

  1. Despite being slightly more expensive than AAWP for single-site management, ThirstyAffiliates still represents much better value for money over Lasso without sacrificing any major features.
  2. If you’re running multiple affiliate programs, the platform excels at managing and categorizing large lists of links.
  3. Lasso’s interface is uncluttered and easy to navigate, but ThirstyAffiliates’ is even simpler to use.

Final Verdict: The Best Lasso Alternative for Serious Affiliates

Lasso is a solid tool for WordPress users who need a simple way to market products. Its JavaScript code snippets also mean that it’s not limited to only WordPress sites.

Still, it doesn’t cut it for affiliates who need global outreach, advanced analytics, and to work with multiple platforms.

Of all the alternatives we’ve explored, Geniuslink stands out as the best alternative to Lasso. Not only does it offer the most comprehensive and accurate link localization, but it supports dozens of affiliate programs.

Most importantly, it can generate branded, flexible links that you can post anywhere, not just on websites you control.
