Running a thriving, successful salon without pulling your hair out means having the right tools. A strong booking system improves the flow of day-to-day salon life, and it takes a few tasks off of your plate. For many salon owners, Meevo has been a longtime go-to choice, but is it really the best option for your business?
Compared to other software, Meevo’s interface feels a bit outdated. While it handles booking and client management well, other platforms offer better usability, more modern designs, and features tailored to your salon’s needs.
Today, we are going to discuss 5 alternatives to Meevo:
- Mangomint
- Vagaro
- Boulevard (my overall top pick)
- Mindbody
- Zenoti
1. Mangomint

Mangomint’s software is very professional-looking, and they do have a lot of great tools available for the basics of running a medium to large salon. My favorite is client-friendly online booking and a centralized communication portal, where you can see previous conversations with clients and message them back. Where Mangomint tends to fall off for me is that their reports are less detailed, and there is an extra fee to add tools such as integrated forms, which can get kind of pricey.
Key Features
- Intuitive appointment scheduling
- User-friendly online booking
- POS system and retail management.
- Great client communication (especially nice if you have a receptionist)
Pricing: Mangomint’s pricing, like most, is tiered. Plans start at $165 per month for Essentials, move up to $245 for Standard, and land around $375 for Unlimited (additional fees depending on services added).

Strengths
- Well-designed UI: Many users praise how easy it is to navigate and learn, especially compared to older or more complex systems.
- Automation features: Marketing campaigns, client messages, and reminders can be automated.
- Aesthetic: Visually appealing from both a client and users perspective.
Limitations
- While it’s a great option, some larger salons often find they need add-ons or integrations for the more advanced needs, which means additional fees.
- Marketing and loyalty programs aren’t as robust as some competitors.
Best For: Mid-sized salons and spas looking for a strong balance of features, ease of use, and who don’t need advanced analytics and reports.
2. Vagaro

Vagaro is one of the most well-known Meevo alternatives on the market, and is used in salons, spas, barbershops, and wellness related businesses. For the services they offer, the price is quite reasonable, which is why it has become so popular; however, as businesses grow and expand, they tend to outgrow this platform.
Key Features
- Online booking and integrated scheduling.
- POS and payment processing
- Automated reminders
- Marketplace exposure (help drive new client growth)
Pricing: Vagaro’s pricing is straightforward if you only want the very basic options essential for solo stylists or small businesses, which start at $23.99 and increase depending on the number of stylists you have. Where it starts to get a little ambiguous is when you need to add on additional services not included in the base price, which can start to feel a little overwhelming.

Strengths
- Affordable pricing: Makes it accessible for startups and solo beauty professionals.
- Wide integrations: Connects with email platforms and calendars.
- Marketplace option: Allows potential clients to find your business through Vagaro’s platform.
Limitations
- Initial price can feel misleading once you start to add on additional services.
- Some salons report performance slowdowns or occasional bugs.
- Software is limited for the needs of large salons or salons with multiple locations.
Best For: Solo stylists/booth renters or small businesses who are conscientious of overhead costs.
3. Boulevard

The best way I can think to describe Boulevard is elevated. Whether you are running a longtime salon or a brand-new business that is starting to expand, their booking site is built with some of the most premium tools. I love that, unlike many all-in-one platforms I’ve seen, Boulevard prioritizes a user-friendly design. It has elegant workflows and a smooth client experience, both for the salon team and customer. Plus, they don’t skimp on the back-end analytics a business needs to measure and improve goals.
Key Features
- Aesthetic and customizable calendar
- Client-friendly self-booking
- Built-in marketing automation and loyalty tools, such as referral programs and point-based rewards.
- Client and employee profiles cards
- Intuitive analytics and reporting that are tailored for service-based businesses
Pricing: Boulevard’s prices start at $158 per month for essentials, $263 for premier, and $369 for prestige.
Strengths
- Intuitive design: Boulevard creates such a simple user experience and clean workflows that require minimal training — this is great for busy salons and front desk teams.
- Strategic Marketing Tools: They offer automated email and text campaigns that are client-segmented – meaning you can send out more targeted marketing messages.
- Retention Tools: Memberships, loyalty features, and automated client messages that help keep clients happy and returning.
- Exceptional support: Not only support from a solid booking site, but also the support from Boulevard’s customer care.

Limitations
- Higher price point than some competitors.
- Requires a demo and interaction with an employee from Boulevard before access. Some may find this to be a pro or con depending on preference. I personally enjoyed having a demo to better understand and utilize the tools available.
Best For: Large salons, salons with multiple locations to manage, or budding salons looking to expand and have funds to invest in a booking site that will support their growth.
4. Mindbody

Mindbody is a booking platform designed to support business in the beauty, fitness, and wellness industry. It’s considered to be similar to Meevo in the sense that it is an all-in-one, cloud-based booking platform. I would say that when it comes to being user-friendly, Mindbody excels, but lacks features specifically tailored for hair salons
Key Features
- Online booking and calendar management
- Membership and loyalty management
- Marketplace
- Multi-service business compatible
Pricing: Their lowest tier starts at $99 a month, but to get a more accurate estimate, they require you to sign up for their demo.

Strengths
- Multibusiness Functional: Mindbody is great for businesses offering a mix of services beyond salon appointments.
- Marketing: One of the main benefits you get when signing up for Mindbody is the free business exposure through their marketplace.
Limitations
- Less Intuitive: Many users feel the interface isn’t as intuitive as some of their competitors. Especially for salon-based businesses.
- Not Salon Tailored: It feels like their primary focus is to support health and wellness businesses, but it can work for a salon as well.
Best For: Larger salons that also offer wellness services, memberships, or classes, and need a platform that supports those varying needs.
5. Zenoti

Zenoti, similar to Mindbody, is designed to cover businesses in beauty, wellness, and spa industries. When using the system, it gives a very modern feel and has lots of great tools to assist your business. I think, with time, you can familiarize yourself with the interface, but the interface can feel overwhelming at first, so expect a learning curve.
Key Features
- Unified online booking across locations.
- Centralized CRM (client relationship management)
- Staff scheduling and payroll integrations
- Advanced analytics and reporting
Pricing: Zenoti’s has three packages: Growth, Hypergrowth, and Complete, but they do not offer any pricing details without going through a demo, but it starts around $400 a month, making it the most expensive option.

Strengths
- Powerful analytics: Excellent for performance tracking across teams and locations.
- Enterprise-grade features: Designed for larger operations and franchises.
Limitations
- Steep learning curve: Can feel overly complex for the stylists and front desk staff, and will require training.
- Pricing opaque: No straightforward published rates.
- Long contracts: Often requires annual contracts.
- Cost: I think when running a medspa, you can justify the higher cost, but for salons (even large ones) I think you can find all the services you need at a lower price point.
Best For: Large franchise salons, wellness-spa chains, and multi-location businesses that need a single system to unify operations.
Conclusion: Why Boulevard Is the Best Choice for Upscale Salons
Meevo has been a great booking site for many salon owners, but every salon is unique, and what works for one business might not be ideal for another.
If you find yourself looking for a booking site that encourages client retention, helps with employee management at one or multiple locations, has built-in marketing features, an intuitive and customizable calendar, and supports business growth, I recommend Boulevard. They designed their platform with salons in mind, rather than as an afterthought to fitness and spas.
