Mangomint has a lot of potential for spa and salon owners. There are so many things to like about it, particularly the quick customer service response and all of the extra features that you get, even with lower tiers of service.
Unfortunately, they missed out on some key features that can leave clients disappointed.
So, having worked with multiple platforms, I’m going to show you how my favorite Mangomint alternatives cover for these missing key features.
The Platforms I’m Comparing
Each of the platforms below is a strong Mangomint alternative. Let’s take a look at them side by side to show when you should consider them as a replacement.
- Acuity
- Varago
- Boulevard
- Calendly (I’ve included this here because I know so many salon owners who use this for booking)
- Goldie
The Best Mangomint Alternative
My favorite Mangomint alternative is Boulevard. Boulevard has an equally stunning layout with an easy-to-use interface, but it does a better job covering some of the core features and booking functions Mangomint is missing.
It also stands out where other alternatives fall short. Boulevard is more scalable than Goldie, more transparent on pricing than Vagaro, and stronger on customer support than Acuity.

Boulevard was built for real stylists, salon, and spa owners. It handles booking, checkout, and smart scheduling the way busy salons actually work. It even handles marketing, from rebooking reminders to targeted emails and texts, plus it fills open spots with waitlist requests, without the scrambling.

My Mangomint Pain Points and How the Alternatives Stack Up
#1: Pricing and Features
Mangomint does not offer a free plan, though it does include a free trial. After that, Mangomint has three price levels:
- Essentials: This is the most basic option for small businesses between 2 and 10 service providers at $165 per month.
- Standard: This is the next level for medium businesses up to 20 service providers at $245 per month.
- Unlimited: This is the most expensive option for large businesses over 20 service providers at $375 per month.
The essentials plan has things like:
- A calendar feature and scheduling
- Online booking
- Mobile apps
- Reporting
- POS and payments
- Staff management

The standard is the same as the essentials, but it has added options for memberships, a virtual waiting room, HIPAA compliance, and express booking.
The unlimited has all of the same features as the standard, but with custom APIs available and Shopify and other integrations included.
One of the reasons we didn’t stay with Mangomint for long was that the integrations felt more limited than we wanted. They now offer a QuickBooks Online payroll sync, which is a step up, but if you want broader accounting connections or more flexibility with the rest of your software stack, Mangomint can still feel a little boxed in.
So, how do others compare?
- Vagaro: Here you have significantly more affordable plans starting at $30 per month. This plan is for one employee and it goes up by $10 increments up to seven employees at which point your monthly price will max out at $90. However, a large portion of their features come at an additional monthly cost so you are basically adding a lot of a la carte options that can quickly add up.
- Acuity: Acuity is a slightly more affordable option that has four levels, starting at an emerging business at only $20 per month and going up to an enterprise business with custom pricing based on the features you add. The features you get even at the Enterprise level are somewhat limited with simple things like payment processing, client self-scheduling, and one bookable calendar at the basic level but up to 36 bookable calendars for multiple employees at the PowerHouse level.
- Calendly: Calendly has a free version for personal use. For small teams, you start at $10 per month and grow up to Enterprise levels at $15,000 per year, but this has a wide range of flexibility for things like Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce connections as well as connections to multiple calendars, marketing software, and more.
- Boulevard: Boulevard charges $175 per month which is almost the same as the essentials, the bare minimum level of Mangomint, but you don’t have to pay based on additional features, everything is included.
- Goldie: Goldie has a free version for basic personal use as well as three other levels based on the size of your team, starting at $20 per month and ranging to $400 per year. The tradeoff is that it is much simpler than platforms like Boulevard or even Vagaro, so it works best for businesses with more basic needs.
When you compare pricing with features, Boulevard feels like the strongest Mangomint alternative for businesses that want a more complete platform without constantly piecing together add-ons. If cost is your biggest concern, though, Acuity, Calendly, and Goldie all give you cheaper entry points.

#2: Onboarding and Customer Service
I will say that one of the best things about Mangomint is the onboarding process. I’ve tried onboarding with MindBody, Vagaro, and Zenoti, and it has been really difficult to get a hold of someone and feel like we mattered, especially as a smaller business on a lower tier.
Mangomint has a lot of customer support for those who are transitioning and implementing the software in exchange for something else. The team is surprisingly responsive, and the interface is easy enough to learn without a huge adjustment period.
That said, payroll onboarding was still a little clunky. Even with strong support overall, that part of the setup was not as smooth as I wanted, which pushed us to look more seriously at other options.
So, how do the top Mangomint alternatives compare?
- Vagaro: The onboarding support you get with Vagaro is pretty comprehensive. You have a lot of documents you can read, videos you can watch, as well as in-person and live online options for your employees.
- Acuity: Acuity has videos and webinars to help your staff get accustomed to the layout but nothing in person or live online.
- Calendly: Calendly has videos, live online options, documentation, and webinars so the support you get for your staff is surprisingly better than Acuity and almost on point with Vagaro.
- Boulevard: The onboarding here is very comprehensive. You can complete live online training and in-person training, watch webinars, and get access to online training materials for your staff members.
- Goldie: Goldie has very limited onboarding, with some videos and articles you can read on their website and a few live online options.
If you have staff who need a lot of support navigating new technology, Vagaro and Boulevard have the most comprehensive range of learning materials available.

#3: User-Friendliness and Device Compatibility
When I briefly used Mangomint, I really liked the customizable menus with easy online booking for our clients, and client chats that everyone on the staff could have access to.
The bigger issue for us was device flexibility. The kiosk options only worked with iPads, and our business didn’t have iPads, so we had to make an additional investment. We found a way to make it work, but not all businesses can.
So, if you want kiosk options that work beyond iPads, there are some alternatives to Mangomint to consider:
- Vagaro: Vagaro has a lot of options for customizing the layout as well, with a less Easter-egg-looking layout. The calendar sections for appointments are also more intuitive. Deployment options are wide-ranging, too, so you aren’t stuck with buying new iPads like we did.
- Acuity: Acuity has deployments available through cloud, Saas, and web-based options or through mobile devices. The layout is very perfunctory, with all of the items you need in a no-nonsense sort of professionalism.
- Calendly: Calendly has a sparse layout. Without a lot of features, their interface isn’t overcrowded. The deployment is the same as Acuity’s.
- Boulevard: Boulevard also has the same deployments as Acuity, with applicability on Android, iPhone, and iPad options as well as cloud, SaaS, and web-based use. Their layout, however, is by far the easiest to use, with a color scheme, font, size, and structure that is highly intuitive.
- Goldie: Goldie has very limited deployments, mostly mobile, and the layout looks more like a game app than anything else.
Overall, this comes down to Boulevard, Vagaro, and Acuity for me. If your business needs a platform that feels easy to use without locking you into a more limited setup, those are the options I would look at first.
#4: Customer Interactions
Mangomint does a nice job with internal tools like shared customer chats and menu customization, but it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to customer interactions, particularly as it relates to rescheduling appointments.
So, how do others compare?
- Vagaro: Vagaro offers a lot of functionality, but it can feel busy on the back end. This makes it difficult for customers and employees alike, with a lot of downtime and embarrassing searching. If your priority is to provide a comprehensive internal platform for your employees and you are willing to invest a lot in training, this can make things a little bit easier on the back end.
- Acuity: Acuity is a lot easier for all clients to use. The booking flow is simple, and that makes it a strong choice for businesses that want a straightforward experience, especially for clients who are less comfortable with technology.
- Calendly: Calendly is easy to set up and automate. It’s very simple to exchange services or change appointments, unlike Mangomint, but it can be more challenging for older clients who want to add services or modify existing appointments.
- Boulevard: Boulevard has a similar layout to Vagaro but the menu options are much easier to access. Appointments and communication have simple, visually friendly layouts so communication privately with customers or in real time to process transactions is very simple to navigate.
- Goldie: Goldie is very easy, reliable, with simple client reminders. It works extremely well for small businesses who want efficiency. If you don’t want a receptionist working full-time on simple business matters, Goldie serves as a great replacement, but not all the options are available for every plan.
If your business serves a lot of older clients or clients who want a very straightforward booking experience, Acuity stands out. If you need the best mix of ease on both the front end and the back end, Boulevard is the stronger option.

Summing Up
There are a lot of good things to be said for each of the top alternatives to Mangomint listed above, so the right choice really comes down to what your business needs most. For some teams, that will be lower pricing. For others, it will be stronger onboarding, better device flexibility, or an easier client experience.
By and large, however, Boulevard is my top favorite. It is the easiest to use by far out of all spa and salon software options I have ever tried. I don’t have to worry about hidden fees, glitches, poor customer service when something goes wrong, or customers who are waiting on me to navigate the system and find the right button for a gift card, tip, or appointment change.
