When it comes to sports uniforms, the custom polo is a classic for a reason. It’s more polished and durable than a T-shirt but just as comfortable. It’s more versatile than a jersey, so your players can rock their team logo on and off the field. And to top it all off, it looks incredible when embroidered.

Whether you’re outfitting a university team, a rec league, or a semi-pro club, you’ll want your investment to look great and last for more than one season. Thankfully, you have plenty of options when it comes to finding a vendor. However, while most printing companies carry polos, they can vary wildly when it comes to value and quality.

So I’ve spent some time poring over product selections and policies, checking customer reviews, and reaching out to customer support teams to see how these vendors stack up in terms of embroidery quality and longevity, performance fabrics, reorder consistency, customer service, and shipping.

Let’s take a look at the best websites for custom sports team polo shirts

BlueCotton

bluecotton

Founded in 1991, BlueCotton is a premium custom apparel and merch company based in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Embroidery Quality & Longevity

BlueCotton is known for their premium embroidery and screen printing services, with a professional design team that can digitize your logo in a way that works best for embroidery. Sometimes, this means simplifying some aspects of your logo or increasing the size of your text to keep it readable when stitched.

Their embroidery team works with a palette of 44 different thread colors. If they don’t have an exact match for a shade in your logo, they’ll use their best judgment and send you a proof for approval if it’s a noticeable shift.

Customers describe their embroidery as “excellent,” “top quality,” “amazing,” and “done with care,” and they have a very respectable 4.8 rating on TrustPilot. As a few negative reviews tended to focus on text legibility, make sure you use a clear font, keep text at least ¼” tall, and choose a shirt color that isn’t too close to your font color. If you’re not sure, reach out to their team — they’re very friendly and happy to help.

Fabric & Performance

BlueCotton carries polos from a large number of blank suppliers and retail brands, including Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, TravisMatthew, SportTek, Cutter & Buck, Port Authority, Nautica, and others. They have a variety of mid-weight and lightweight options, made from fabrics like jersey, racer mesh, polyester, cotton-poly blend, and tri-blend, with textures like jacquard and pique knit.

Long-sleeve and short-sleeve options are available, though the selection leans heavily toward the traditional short-sleeved polo. I personally love that they carry multiple polos that are carbon neutral or made from recycled fabrics.

To browse their performance fabrics, you can filter by feature in the sidebar. Some options, like the Sport-Tek Posi-UV Pro Polo or the Cutter & Buck Men’s Advantage Tri-Blend Space Dye Polo, offer UV protection. Others, like the Nike Women’s Dri-FIT Micro Pique 2.0 Polo, use moisture-wicking technology to keep players dry and comfortable. The TravisMathew Coto Performance Chest Stripe Polo has 4-way stretch for improved range of motion. Overall, they have a great selection of sports-friendly tops.

Reorder Consistency

Reorders are quick and easy, and you can instantly duplicate a prior order with a click of a button. It’s just as simple to change the size, quantity, and even color of your garments. If you want to create a pink version of your uniform for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BlueCotton makes it super simple. Need new polos for your newest team members? Their names-and-numbers tool lets you customize shirts for each player on your team.

In terms of maintaining consistency between subsequent batches, BlueCotton solves this by keeping all production in-house, along with their design and customer service teams — they all work together in the same Kentucky facility, with free and frequent communication between departments.

If they catch an error in their nine-step quality control process, they’ll fix it before your order ships. On the off chance an error of theirs gets through, they’ll redo your order for free.

Customer Service

Customer service is another area where BlueCotton tends to get very high marks. Their support team, which you can reach through phone, chat, or email, has been described as “truly exceptional,” “prompt and friendly,” “attentive,” and “where BlueCotton truly shines.”

These reviews mirror my own experience contacting the company. I spoke with their rep Gracie about the pros and cons of screen printing vs. embroidery, and I found her responses thoughtful and thorough. She shared care instructions to maximize the longevity of screen printing and personally recommended their embroidery services in a way that felt genuine rather than salesy.

Shipping

BlueCotton keeps it simple when it comes to shipping. Their standard delivery (within ten days) is free across the contiguous United States, via UPS or USPS.

If you’re in a hurry, you can upgrade to Rush (5 business days; +15% or $25, whichever is greater), Super Rush (3 business days if ordered by noon CST; +25% or $39), or Shirts In A Day (1 business day if ordered by noon CST; +40% or $69). As a trade-off for Super Rush and Shirts in a Day, you’ll have fewer shirt options available to you.

The delivery dates for all shipping options are guaranteed for the continental U.S.; Canadians and other international customers are eligible for standard shipping only.

Coastal Reign

Websites for Custom Sports Team Polo Shirts

Since 2013, Coastal Reign has been providing high-quality embroidery, screen printing, direct film transfer, and sublimation printing to customers in Canada and the United States.

Embroidery Quality & Longevity

Coastal Reign’s embroidery is consistently praised as being one of the brand’s strong points. As another in-house shop that runs production through their own facilities (albeit in Canada), they’re a popular choice for our northern friends in particular.

For example, a judo studio praised their proactive efforts to create the best possible reproduction of a complex judo-inspired graphic for stitching. Another customer raved about the team’s ability to turn a rough pencil sketch into a “professional, vibrant sublimated design” that their entire team fell in love with.

If you’re worried that your logo may not be suitable for embroidery, don’t be — Coastal Reign’s talented young design team seems to be their secret weapon. Reviews shout out their superb design assistance, the excellent quality of their decorations, and the reliability of their results.

When it comes to embroidery, they seem to excel at both simple and complex designs. And like BlueCotton, if they make a mistake, they’ll redo your order for free.

Fabric & Performance

Coastal Reign carries the usual athletic brands, like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, along with brands like Gildan, Coal Harbour, Calloway, ATC, Muskoka Trail, and StormTech. Most of their polos are an athlete-friendly lightweight style, with standard and semi-fitted cuts. While the majority are 100% polyester, you can also find cotton, cotton-poly blend, and polyester-spandex options, along with a handful of poly mesh, bamboo, ringspun, and pima cotton options.

Of the 142 polos they carry, 67 are moisture-wicking, including the Under Armour Men’s Tech Polo. If your team plays outdoors, they have 48 options that feature UV protection, including the Team 365 Ladies’ Zone Sonic Heather Performance Polo. For high-intensity sports, you may want the Russell Athletic Essential Polo, which comes with built-in odor protection and sweat control. And like BlueCotton, they also carry a small selection of eco-friendly polos, including the recycled polyester Adidas Women’s 3 Stripes Shoulder Sport Shirt and the Jerico Bamboo Stretch Polo.

Reorder Consistency

Coastal Reign handles all production through their print facilities in Vancouver and Toronto. Since they have total control over their garments and decoration processes, you don’t have to worry about the reorder inconsistencies that are common with companies that use third-party printers.

Their process itself is simple and streamlined: just click the reorder button next to your purchase, and adjust the quantity as needed.

Customer Service

Coastal Reign’s customer service team is as well-reviewed as their production: Customers praise their courteousness and quick responses, with one 5-star review shouting out team member Angela for being “incredibly helpful, patient, generous with her time, and very knowledgeable.”

You can reach their support team by calling, emailing, or hopping into their live chat. If you choose the latter, just be aware that you’ll likely deal with an AI agent initially. Not everyone loves that, but I personally found their AI agent helpful and was satisfied with its responses to my questions about their embroidery techniques.

Shipping

Coastal Reign offers free standard shipping on all orders, using Canada Post or UPS. You can opt for expedited shipping during the checkout process, at which point you’ll receive a shipping quote. If you’re in Toronto or Vancouver, you can pick up your order for free.

Nervous about ordering from a Canadian company as an American? Don’t be. While both of Coastal Reign’s physical locations are located in the Great White North, they don’t charge their U.S. customers any extra shipping or duty fees.

Queensboro

queensboro

For over 40 years, Queensboro has been dedicated to providing excellent custom clothing and merchandise while keeping their pricing and minimum quantities as low as possible.

Embroidery Quality & Longevity

Queensboro is known for their fine embroidery work and high garment quality, and this is reflected in their very impressive 4.9 TrustPilot rating. Their customers praise their crisp, clean detail, flawless logo reproduction, and vivid colors.

If you’re unhappy with the quality of your results, they want to make it right. In the event of damaged products or production mistakes, Queensboro offers a No Returns Necessary Guarantee, which means you don’t need to go through the hassle of shipping the product back to them in order to get a replacement or refund. As a busy business owner, I really appreciate this.

Fabric & Performance

If you enjoy scrolling through endless product listings to find just the right pick, this might not be a good option for you — they carry a far smaller selection than the other companies on this list. Their product catalog only includes eight polyester and poly/cotton polos from Sport-Tek, Port Authority, and their own brand.

Still, there are some viable athlete-friendly options on this list. Their Port Authority Women’s Wearever Signature Pique Polo features moisture control technology and UPF protection, while their Sport-Tek Men’s 100% Performance RacerMesh Polo is made with a breathable, moisture-wicking performance polyester.

Reorder Consistency

Once you’ve created a design, it’s saved in your account, and you can easily submit a reorder quickly through your account or by calling their customer service team.

Since Queensboro doesn’t outsource their screen printing or embroidery services to third parties, you don’t have to worry about inconsistent reorders. Their team will ensure that your latest draft pick’s uniform matches those of your seasoned champions.

Customer Service

Queensboro’s customers are very happy with their support. Reviews describe their customer service as “excellent,” “unmatched,” and “perfect,” praising the company for their willingness to go above and beyond. This is likely fueled by Queensboro’s stated mission to help small-to-medium businesses and organizations maximize their impact.

Their team is available through live chat, phone, and email.

Shipping

While Queensboro doesn’t offer free shipping, their flat-rate shipping fees are very reasonable. They charge just $13.95 within the contiguous U.S. and $19.95 for customers in Alaska and Hawaii. Orders weighing less than a pound ship via USPS, while heavier orders ship via UPS. Notably, they do not ship internationally.

TeamShirts

polos

Since 2014, TeamShirts has been helping individuals and teams create personalized clothing that reflects their unique identity.

Embroidery Quality & Longevity

Team Shirts seems to be well-regarded among their customers — as long as you do everything you can to set them up for success. While many customers are very happy with their results, a few negative reviews note some issues with color accuracy, print location, and embroidery alignment. So if you choose to go with TeamShirts, I recommend that you follow best practices when preparing your logo (large, clear text, simple design, no background) and touch base with their team to make sure everything is copacetic before production.

TeamShirts also seems less proactive than companies like BlueCotton or Custom Reign in terms of working with customers to digitize their logos effectively for embroidery, so you’ll probably need to do this legwork on your own.

But when it comes to the quality of the embroidery itself, they use tear- and fade-resistant threads in 19 colors. They can also combine up to three colors at a time, which means they can reproduce a large range of shades.

Fabric & Performance

Like Queensboro, Team Shirts has a limited number of polo shirts available, but they do stock known, reputable brands like Adidas, Under Armour, Augusta, and Gildan, along with some unbranded options.

However, only four of their polo shirts are eligible for embroidery. While two of these are heavyweight cotton and not ideal for sports teams, the Gildan Unisex 50/50 Jersey Polo and the Gildan Kids 50/50 Jersey Polo are made from a midweight moisture-wicking jersey blend.

If you’re fine with screen printing your logo, the lightweight polyester Augusta Sportswear Pursuit Polo (available in both women’s and men’s styles) is designed to keep athletes dry and comfortable.

Reorder Consistency

Team Shirts keeps the reorder process quick and easy. Just browse your past orders and hit the Order Again button; you’ll be able to switch up the color and quantity if desired, or just move forward with an identical order.

Like the other companies on this list, they handle their production on-site, giving them control over all decoration processes and quality checks.

Customer Service

You can reach TeamShirts’ customer service team via phone or email. My own experience with their team was positive: I emailed them with a few questions about their production and reorder processes and was given a timeline of 48 hours. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a response just three hours later containing the answers I requested, plus live links to examples and additional information. No complaints here.

Some negative reviews mention shipping delays and generic or unhelpful responses from the CS team, but the majority of their customers seem very satisfied with their customer service, delivery times, and pricing.

Shipping

TeamShirts offers free standard delivery and tracking on all orders. If you’re up against a looming deadline or just can’t wait to get your uniforms, they also offer premium and express shipping for customers in the continental United States.

For orders of $130.00 to $450.00, premium and express shipping cost $24.99 and $49.99, respectively. For orders of $450.00 to $1,000.00, you’ll be paying $49.99 for premium and $99.99 for express. Not too bad at all.

Choosing from the Best Custom Sports Apparel Sites

tennis polos

In my opinion, the best overall option is BlueCotton. Their reputation for excellent customer service and premium embroidery and screen printing makes them a great choice for teams and organizations that want great-looking uniforms and a headache-free process.

When it comes to product selection, Coastal Reign can’t be beat. They have over 140 polos available, many of which include performance-oriented features like sun protection and sweat control. So if you have a long list of must-haves for your uniforms, you should check out Coastal Reign’s generous catalog.

No matter which option you choose, double-check that your logo will translate well to embroidery, and make sure you’re able to view and approve proofs before production. The best return policy is one you don’t have to use!
