I’m sure I’m not the only affiliate marketer who is constantly hunting for new tools.
This money-making method, whether it’s currently your side-hustle or a full-time gig, can consume your life if you let it.
That’s why most affiliate marketers I know will gleefully welcome any tool that saves them time or makes them extra money.
The problem is: there are a lot of tools these days that claim to do that, and some are far better than others.
Lasso and Geniuslink are two of the most well-known tools in the affiliate marketing space. Both claim to be more effective than the other, so what’s the truth?
I gave both tools a spin to give you an expert verdict on how each one works and which is likely to be more effective for affiliate marketers.
The Bottom Line
Both of these tools will likely increase your affiliate income by far more than what you pay for them, and they have enough unique features to justify using both.
With that said, I’ve found Geniuslink will link you to better affiliate deals more often, while Lasso’s most unique features are reserved exclusively for WordPress users.
Main Differences between Lasso vs Geniuslink
Lasso and Geniuslink will both help you to create more effective affiliate links, but there are key differences to be aware of.
The main differences between Lasso and Geniuslink are:
- Lasso boosts your affiliate commissions with its Affiliate+ program, whereas Geniuslink does so by connecting you to a huge range of Amazon seller networks.
- Lasso has tools to make your links more visually-appealing on WordPress blogs, whereas Geniuslink allows you to create landing pages linking to several online stores.
- Lasso uses AI to recommend more suitable affiliate products, whereas Geniuslink has no product recommendation features.
- Lasso lets you ‘cloak’ links to all stores but Amazon, whereas Geniuslink allows you to cloak Amazon links as well.
- Lasso charges an annual fee, whereas Geniuslink charges customers based on how many clicks their links generate.
Lasso Key Features
Higher Affiliate Earnings With Affiliate+
Lasso users earn 3-5x more in commission revenue with its Affiliate+ program compared to Amazon Associates.
Lasso negotiates with merchants so it can offer these higher commission rates, and passes the bonuses onto its users.
These bonuses can be earned on top of Amazon Associates commissions, so you may as well sign up for both.
With that said, Affiliate+ provides an opportunity to make money recommending Amazon products, even if you can’t sign up for Amazon Associates.
Fruitful Affiliate Opportunities Recommended By AI
Lasso’s ‘Opportunities’ feature utilises the power of AI to suggest new products for you to promote.
For example, if you have a camping website promoting tents with affiliate links, Lasso will scour its database for the most profitable tents to promote. What’s more, it will recommend other affiliate products that your audience will likely be interested in. Perhaps hiking boots or sleeping bags, for example.
Using this feature, I found a handful of great products that I might have never heard of otherwise.
Eye-Catching Displays That Match Your Brand Perfectly
The Lasso tool makes it simple to display your affiliate products in the most visually-appealing way on your WordPress website. There are several grids, lists and comparison tables, which have all been endlessly A/B tested by Lasso researchers to provide the best possible opportunity for conversions.
I like how easy it is to edit these displays to match your brand. When promoting Amazon products in the displays, the product photos, descriptions and prices will update automatically.
Handy Link Management Tools
Lasso allows you to shorten your affiliate links with your own memorable permalinks, perfect for sharing on YouTube, podcasts and social media platforms.
The tool knows when you can and can’t cloak your links to keep you compliant. Amazon typically does not allow link cloaking, for example.
Its link-shortening tools allow for mobile deep linking, which can link you directly to the Amazon app, for example.
Lasso handles internationalisation issues, ensuring users are sent to the correct online store for their country; an important step to ensure that affiliate commissions are correctly tracked.
The tool can also find and replace broken links, both on your website and your YouTube channel, to ensure these don’t needlessly cost you affiliate sales.
Lasso links have a 14-day cookie window, giving users a greater chance of conversions.
Learn What’s Working Well With Analytics
Lasso’s analytical tools will show you what links are attracting the most clicks and the most revenue. You’ll be able to track the click-through rate and earnings per click on each of your links, web pages and affiliate programs. You’ll be notified whenever you have a broken link or an affiliate product is out of stock.
If you’re a nerd like me, you can easily lose yourself in the swathes of data, but the dashboard highlights the important stats well.
Pricing
Lasso offers a free ‘Lite’ pricing tier, which allows users to join its Affiliate+ marketplace with optimised product displays. However, free users won’t be able to access WordPress display themes, broken link alerts, AI recommendations or other useful features. This could still be potentially useful to beginners.
If you’re an experienced affiliate marketer with a WordPress website, you’ll likely want to upgrade to the Essentials plan ($190 per year) or the Pro plan ($289 per year).
Notable features of the Pro plan include AI product recommendations, priority support, more detailed analytics and link localisation. I assumed the Pro features would make me at least an extra 100 bucks a year, so opted for that one.
Lasso also offers an Enterprise tier. You’ll need a quote from its sales team to discover how much that costs.
Pros
- Higher commissions via the Affiliate+ program
- Eye-catching product displays
- AI recommends new products to promote
- Deep analytical tools
- The free plan could be useful for beginners
Cons
- Its website features only work on WordPress, not other website-building platforms like Wix or Squarespace.
- The dashboard could be somewhat complicated for inexperienced affiliate marketers.
- There’s no free trial of its premium plans available.
Geniuslink Key Features
Boost Commissions By Connecting to Seller Networks
Geniuslink makes it simple to boost your affiliate revenue by connecting to Amazon’s array of seller networks.
These networks, including the likes of Archer Affiliates, Levanta, MaverickX, PartnerBoost and WayWard, can offer affiliate income up to 17 times more than what’s offered by Amazon Associates.
Instead of searching around for the best deal, Geniuslink will detect when you’re promoting a product supported by a seller network and help you monetise it in the most profitable way.
Diversify and Increase Sales with Choice Pages
Geniuslink makes it easy to link to the same product in a wide range of online stores. You can build a Choice Page which customers will land on after clicking one of your affiliate links, giving them the option to buy the product from several stores.
Many customers have favorite stores when it comes to online shopping, and giving them the option to choose between several has proven to increase click-through rates with Geniuslink users by 2.2x on average.
Intelligent Linking System
With Geniuslink, your affiliate links will be able to connect to smartphone apps and localised online stores when necessary. You can create shortened links with your own domain or a vanity URL. All links offer a 14-day cookie window, helping to ensure more clicks ultimately turn to conversions.
Geniuslink has also built a unique relationship with Amazon where they can legally ‘cloak’ Amazon links.
Retargeting
Geniuslink allows you to add tracking pixels to each of your links to build custom audiences for retargeting.
This useful feature allows you to retarget leads even if they’ve never visited your website.
I post Amazon links on my YouTube channel. Neither YouTube or Amazon belong to me. But with Geniuslink, I can retarget potential customers who interact with my links. That’s a great way to nurture affiliate sales in the long run.
Deep Analytical Tools
Geniuslink analytics systems make it clear what’s working and what isn’t in your affiliate marketing hustle.
It’ll show you the basics, like how many clicks your links are generating, but you can also dive deep to discover your audience’s destination, device, operating system and way more.
You can even add custom UTM tags to your links to customize your analytics experience.
Click-Based Pricing
Rather than offering price tiers based on features, Geniuslink will charge you based on how many clicks your affiliate links attract. This can almost guarantee that the tool pays for itself.
The price starts at $6 per month for up to 2,000 clicks. From there, you’ll pay an extra $2.50 per 1,000 clicks. If you generate 10,000 clicks per month, that’ll cost you $25. With 100,000 clicks, you’ll pay $128.50.
Since I only have a small audience, this pricing structure works far better for me. It’ll prove costly for those with millions of visitors every month, but they’ll likely be making enough affiliate sales to justify the expense.
No matter how many clicks you generate, you’ll get access to all of Geniuslink’s features. There’s also a 14-day free trial for new members, where you can generate unlimited clicks at no cost.
Pros
- Intelligent links ensure more affiliate sales are linked to you
- Connect easily to the most profitable seller networks
- Tracking pixels allow for easy retargeting
- UTM links for advanced analytics
- Click-based pricing system is great for beginners
Cons
- There’s no feature to create eye-catching website links
- There’s no product recommendation feature
- Users with high traffic will pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month.
Recommended Alternatives To Lasso and GeniusLink
AAWP
Amazon Affiliates WordPress Plugin (AAWP) is an advanced tool to help WordPress users sell products through the Amazon Associates scheme.
You can create attractive product displays on your blog, but there’s little support for those linking to other retailers.
Afillimate
Afillimate has several useful link management tools, but it stands out for the deep analytical data offered to affiliate bloggers. There are separate plans for individual creators and media companies.
Amazon OneLink
Amazon OneLink is a tool that allows affiliate marketers to create relevant redirects for international traffic, so they land on the correct Amazon store after clicking an affiliate link. It’s a free service, but that’s essentially all it does.
Lasso vs Geniuslink: Bottom Line
Lasso and Geniuslink share a lot of basic features that affiliate marketers will find useful.
Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced professional, you’ll find it’s worth paying to ensure your affiliate links direct people to the optimal location. Vanity links, 14-day cookie windows and eye-catching blog displays are all worth investing in too.
Both have different methods of boosting affiliate income. The most profitable tool in this sense will depend on which product you’re selling.
With that said, Geniuslink connects users to such a wide range of seller networks that you’d count on it to find a better deal more often than not.
It’s conceivable that some affiliate marketers may choose to use both Lasso and Geniuslink. That’s what I did.
I used Lasso to improve how products were presented on my WordPress blog and to find new products to promote, but I created my affiliate links using Geniuslink to ensure they were monetised as profitably as possible.
Essentially, I used Geniuslink to monetise my links and Lasso to optimise them.
This strategy outlines the key strengths of both tools.
To summarise:
- If you have a WordPress blog promoting affiliate products, Lasso will help you do that more effectively.
- If you don’t have a WordPress blog or you’re mostly interested in making your affiliate links more profitable, Geniuslink is the standout option.
