Custom blankets make great team gifts and giveaway prizes, and they can be a fun and functional piece of branded merch during the colder seasons. After all, who doesn’t love curling up on the couch with a fluffy blanket and a book (or TV remote)?
But, like any other custom item, quality is key. If your blanket is scratchy or poorly made, people are less likely to use it. And if your image is unclear or fades quickly, you lose out on that cozy brand association. The best custom blankets balance quality and cost-effectiveness, offering high usability and longevity at a price-per-unit that doesn’t break the bank.
I was curious to see how different custom blanket vendors would stack up, so I spent a couple of afternoons researching custom print and embroidery businesses to see what was out there. After browsing through customer reviews, exploring vendor websites, and checking out product photos, branded swag companies stood out:
I decided to dig a little deeper to see which one offered the best material quality, print clarity and longevity, overall selection, and pricing when it comes to custom blankets.
Read on to find out how they did.
BlueCotton

While best known for their high-quality custom shirts and hoodies, BlueCotton also offers a curated selection of promo products, including drinkware, bags, and blankets, with all customization and customer care handled in their own facility.
Selection
BlueCotton offers six different blanket styles from established brands, including Independent Trading Co., Eddie Bauer, Port Authority, Boxercraft, and J. America. While they don’t have the largest product selection of the group, I was pretty satisfied with the range of options, which included both budget picks and a couple of luxe selections.
If warm-and-cozy is the goal, the Boxercraft Sherpa blanket features double-faced sherpa on one side and an ultrasoft microfleece on the other, and the Port Authority Packable Travel Blanket features handy foot pockets. The cotton/polyester French terry J. America Baja Blanket gives more of a yoga blanket vibe — it even folds up neatly into a pillow for travel or an especially restorative savasana pose.
(Note: blankets aren’t listed as a category in their Custom Promo Products section — they’re actually in Custom Outerwear, under the Apparel tab. You can also use the search function to find your options.)
Material Quality
BlueCotton’s hand-picked product catalog features well-known brand names in both the garment blanks and consumer goods categories. The materials used in their blanket options include 100% polyester, cotton/polyester blends, lush fleeces, fluffy sherpa, and soft cotton brushed flannel.
Overall, BlueCotton seems to have made smart choices when curating their blanket category. They’re well-known for the quality of their apparel blanks, so it doesn’t surprise me that they also have good taste in home goods.
While they don’t feature customer reviews on specific product pages, their branded merchandise is easy to look up. Reviews for the Boxercraft Sherpa blanket praise its cloud-like softness, and customers have called the Independent Trading Co. Special Blend Blanket the perfect stadium blanket.
Print Clarity & Longevity
BlueCotton tends to get a lot of hype for the extremely high quality of their screen printing and embroidery. A big reason for this is that they handle all of their operations on-site. This means their design, customer service, and printing teams work closely together to make sure every item looks exactly the way it should.
Their stringent 9-point quality control system is performed entirely by humans, so design errors don’t make it very far into the production process. And if they make a mistake, you get a free reprint. Customer reviews highlight the clear, durable artwork and the BlueCotton team’s responsiveness.
While they offer both screen printing and embroidery for all of their blanket products, I contacted their customer service team to see what they would recommend. I spoke with Gracie, who assured me that their screen printing will last a long time when handled with care and washed in cold water, though she personally recommended embroidery.
Pricing
BlueCotton has a minimum order of 16 units for each of their blankets. Assuming you’re ordering 16 blankets, you’ll be paying anywhere between $34.62 and $63.86 per blanket, depending on the brand, style, and decoration method you choose.
The cheapest option, the cotton/polyester blend Independent Trading Co. Special Blend Blanket, measures a generous 62″ x 78″, so it’s a great value pick for budget-conscious brands. Another decent budget option is the Eddie Bauer Woodland Blanket, made with a cozy microfleece/high-pile fleece combo.
VistaPrint

As one of the bigger names in promotional product printing, VistaPrint is known for their wide selection of customizable products, from paper goods to hoodies to s’mores kits.
Selection
Vistaprint offers 36 different blankets, ranging from plush throws to more rugged picnic-style blankets. While much of their selection is unbranded, they do offer a few name brands, including Port Authority, Field & Co., District, and Slowtide.
Their sole bestseller, the Micro Coral Plush Blanket, is made with polyester fleece and features large corner embroidery. Of all the options available, their Custom Photo Blanket is definitely the show-stopper, featuring full-size photo imagery in vibrant color and stunning detail. It’s durable, machine-washable, and available in three different sizes.
Material Quality
Their blanket options are made with materials such as velour, sherpa, organic cotton, fleece, microfiber, and recycled polyester. While the manufacturers are largely unnamed, some of the listings (though not all) include customer ratings and reviews, giving you some idea of what to expect. I’d love to see more reviews available on Vistaprint’s website, particularly for the unbranded items.
Customer reviews give the Field & Co. Sherpa Blanket high marks for its warmth and soft feel. On the other hand, many customers complain that the fleece Custom Photo Blanket is too thin and feels cheap. (The VistaPrint Customer Care Team recommends opting for sherpa if you want a comfier blanket.)
Print Clarity & Longevity
VistaPrint’s blankets are decorated using embroidery, heat transfer, screen printing, digital inkjet, or a dye-sublimation process. Apart from the custom photo blankets, the process and even the decoration area are specified by VistaPrint on each blanket’s product page, so there are no surprises there. While this could be frustrating if you were set on heat transfer and your preferred blanket is embroidery-only, this policy likely prevents subpar decoration results.
While some customers warn of print quality issues, others are happy with the clarity of their images. Reviews on their bestselling Micro Coral Plush Blanket mention the high quality of the embroidery and the VistaPrint team’s proactive work in simplifying an overly intricate logo.
While it isn’t specified on the website, I spoke with a customer support representative who told me that their custom photo blankets are created using fade-resistant sublimation.
Pricing
While Vistaprint does offer a number of blanket styles with no minimum, most blankets require a minimum order between 3 and 24. That gives brands a lot of flexibility in their selection. If you’re ordering a single blanket, expect to pay between $24ish and $70, depending on the style you choose.
Speaking of flexibility, you can divide your payment into four interest-free installments if you reach a minimum cost threshold. This perk is especially handy when you’re making larger bulk orders or producing blankets for retail sale.
RushOrderTees

Don’t let the name fool you — RushOrderTees has branched out far beyond t-shirts and carries a huge range of customizable clothing, accessories, office supplies, and tech gear.
Selection
RushOrderTees has a generous catalog of 65 different blankets, including soft throws, oversized picnic blankets, waterproof camping blankets, and even infant blankets. They carry blankets made by Field & Co., Eddie Bauer, TravisMatthew, Independent Trading Co., tentree, and Champion, as well as unbranded blankets. Overall, I really appreciated the diversity in form and function in their selection.
If you already know what you’re looking for, you can filter their product listings by color, price, minimum quantity, and decoration method. Another thing I appreciate about RushOrderTees is that their eco-friendly blankets are clearly labeled in the category results, making it super easy to find sustainable options.
Material Quality
RushOrderTees carries blankets made from recycled fleece, sherpa, velour, micro plush, cotton, cotton/polyester blend, premium jersey, and flannel. Very few reviews are available on their website in the blanket category — of the 60+ listings, only 5 included customer feedback. Three praised the look and feel of the products, one complained about inventory and communication issues, while another complimented RushOrderTees on successfully fixing a quality issue.
As about half of their selection are name brands, you can easily look up reviews for these specific blankets. If you want to play it safe, filter your results for highly regarded brands like Field & Co. and Port Authority. Outside of the RushOrderTees website, the Port Authority Flannel Sherpa Blanket has been described as super soft, warm, and highly versatile.
Print Clarity & Longevity
Available decoration methods include embroidery, printing, and debossed leather patches. Like VistaPrint, the methods are already locked in on each product page for the most part, though some items do give you a choice between a couple of options.
Reviews found outside their website warn about unexpected shipping delays, but are largely happy about print clarity and quality. Those posting negative reviews about decoration methods mention inaccurate print colors, poor embroidery backing, and not being given the chance to approve a proof before production.
Pricing
Depending on the blanket, minimum orders range from 1 to 30, with 14 styles available with no minimum. This is good news for businesses purchasing smaller bulk orders for promotional giveaways or team rewards.
Their cheapest per unit option, the 100% Recycled PET Fleece Blanket, costs $9.66 per blanket for the minimum order of 45. Their top-selling unbranded Sherpa Blanket will set you back $21.15 per blanket for the minimum order of 24. Their most expensive option, the Made*Here New York Basketweave Cotton Blanket, comes in at a whopping $157.98 per unit for the minimum order of 4, but it does look extremely comfy.
If you opt for one of their pricier options, don’t worry. RushOrderTees partners with Klarna, Sezzle, AfterPay, and Affirm, allowing you to split your purchase into smaller payments over time.
Merchology

Merchology is a family-owned provider of customized corporate apparel and gifts, specializing in providing in-house decoration on trusted premium retail brands.
Selection
After typing “blanket” into the search bar, I was confronted with an overwhelming number of results — 736, to be precise. Thankfully, these results can be filtered by color, brand, material, and whether or not they’re available for quick shipping (which is very handy for rush deadlines).
Their product selection includes a lot of portable camping and stadium blankets, plush throw blankets, and sturdy picnic blankets, so you’re very likely to find whatever you’re looking for.
As Merchology claims, they do partner with a ton of big-name retail brands. They offer blankets from brands like Port Authority, Koozie, Slowtide, Gemline, Field & Co., and Baloo, and they also carry a few unbranded blankets.
Material Quality
Merchology’s selection includes blankets made from mink sherpa, polar fleece, flannel, cotton-poly blend, corduroy, and recycled polyester.
Customer ratings and reviews are available on Merchology’s website for a few of the blankets, but not many. Reviews for the Port Authority Black Mountain Lodge Blanket highlight the outstanding embroidery and fluffiness, and customers praised the soft feel of the Port Authority Marshmallow Cozy Blanket. Meanwhile, the Bullet Navy Ribbed Fleece Blanket earned a rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars (though as no one left a written review, it’s hard to know why).
The upside: since they partner with so many big brands, it’s easy to search for reviews of many of their blanket options outside their website.
Print Clarity & Longevity
Admittedly, customer reviews are a bit mixed. While some praise their products and their embroidery, and offer up appealing photos of their work, others complain about lackluster embroidery and logos being shrunk down without notice. If you choose to give them a try, I’d recommend initially starting with a smaller order.
Pricing
Of the blankets I looked at, minimum orders ranged from 6 to 75, depending on the style and brand. This flexibility makes them a viable option for businesses or individuals interested in both smaller and larger bulk orders.
Budget-conscious buyers might be interested in the Port & Company Athletic Heather Core Fleece Sweatshirt Blanket, which comes to around $270 for the minimum 12 units.
Final Thoughts

Best Overall: BlueCotton
While their product catalog may not be bursting at the seams, it’s thoughtfully curated with trusted brands that deliver great value. Thanks to BlueCotton’s reputation for premium quality embroidery and screen printing, superior customer service, free shipping, and satisfaction guarantee, you can expect a headache-free, frictionless process.
Great for Giveaways: RushOrderTees
RushOrderTees carries a few low-budget, no-frills options that are ideal for giveaways. In addition to the 100% Recycled PET Fleece Blanket mentioned above, their unbranded Fleece Blanket comes in at $10.35 per unit for the minimum order of 45.
Great for Gifts: VistaPrint
If you’re looking to gift blankets to a small team or a single person, VistaPrint carries around ten styles that don’t require a minimum order, ranging from durable picnic blankets to plush micro-mink throws. Really looking to impress? Pair a custom photo blanket with one of their personalized s’mores kits for the ultimate winter gift.
